West Midlands Third Sector Strategic Forum - update
29/32 applications validated
The Validation Process took place on Wednesday 3rd February 2010.
All applications had been filed unopened in a dedicated email folder, and only opened for photocopying purposes on 2nd February.
The validation panel used a scoring matrix containing the essential criteria contained in the person specification. The panel was made up of three people, two of whom assessed the applications in the first instance, with the third holding the casting vote in cases where there was doubt or disagreement.
32 applications were received. The panel rejected two on the grounds of ineligibility. The panel had doubt over two applications which were passed onto the third panellist who endorsed one and rejected the other.
There are 17 seats on the Forum, which means there will be an election. The 29 validated candidates are listed on the WMTSSF Ning site.
Next steps
All candidates are now required to prepare for a 60 second ‘Talking Heads’ style video in which they will tell the sector why they should be voted in. The videos will be shot during the next two weeks in three locations: Birmingham, Stafford and Coventry.
The videos will be posted on the Ning site on Friday 19th February 2010 so the sector can find out about the candidates before voting takes place during Tuesday 9th March – Friday 12th March 2010. There will be a link to candidates’ supporting statements, so you don’t have to make your choice based on a 60 second sound bite!
Spread the word to as many colleagues as possible as the Forum will be engaging with and seeking to influence the West Midlands Third Sector at the key strategy and investment decision making body in the region.
Please remember that the voting will be restricted to the Third Sector, and will be limited to one vote per organisation. The voting process is being designed to ensure this happens, and will include postal as well as electronic voting.
Messages formulated at RAWM’s Annual Policy Conference on 2nd March 2010 will be presented at the forum’s inaugural meeting on 24th March 2010.
