Regional Action West Midlands

Supporting the voluntary and community sector in the West Midlands

RAWM is appointing voluntary non-executive directors

Established in 2000, Regional Action West Midlands is a regional infrastructure organisation with a focus and passion for enhancing the activities of the voluntary and community sector across the region. We do this by co-ordinating projects and partnerships which build sector voice, influence and engagement. RAWM also encourages funding into the sector, and represents the sector as a strategic player in the design and delivery of polices and strategies at different levels.

RAWM is currently undertaking a review of the sector which will inform its future focus. We are seeking to recruit individuals to the Board who will drive forward this programme of change within RAWM and support the voluntary and community sectors in the wider change agenda. If you come from a network that exists in the West Midlands region and consists largely of voluntary and community organisations, and you have skills and experience in one or more of the following areas: working in the Voluntary and Community Sector; managing change; financial management; human resources; communications and marketing; governance structures; programme delivery, and strategy & policy (including regional and national agenda) we’d love to hear from you!

The Role
Directors are expected to:

  • Work closely with the Network Director and the Senior Management Team to formulate and deliver the sectors agenda;
  • Lead and develop RAWM as a regional infrastructure organisation;
  • Continually assess the impact of strategies and policies on the voluntary and community sectors;
  • Work with local and regional agencies and organisations and manage relationships with funders.

Board members are unpaid but we will meet your out of pocket expenses and provide opportunities to develop your skills further. Board meetings are held in the day time and will not normally exceed 4 meetings per year. With committee meetings, and representation of RAWM on external partnerships you will be expected to commit around 2 days per month on average.

Directors are elected from full RAWM members. If you are not a member and would like to become one, please contact a member of RAWM’s Senior Management Team on 0121 359 9100 or email rawm@rawm.co.uk
