Sector understanding of how policies are made increases thanks to RAWM!
Wed, 17/03/2010
A staggering 95% of delegates surveyed at RAWM’s annual conference in December 2009 felt that the event had provided greater clarity on how decision on policies and strategies are determined.
The conference, entitled Commissioning for a thriving third sector, included presentations from the Office of the Third Sector, Government Office of the West Midlands and NAVCA. These provided different perspectives on third sector commissioning and informed healthy debate through the day.
The general opinion on the day was that the third sector needs to engage with the commissioning agenda, and to make use of the new regional procurement framework to support this. Sharon Palmer, RAWM Chief Executive Officer said: “Commissioning provides a real opportunity for the third sector. If these are to be maximized it’s really important that commissioners have a thorough understanding of the third sector and that third sector organisations develop their capacity to manage commissions.”
