Development Worker at SUSTAiN

Solihull SUSTAiN is the infrastructure organisation supporting Solihull’s Voluntary & Community (Civic Society) Sector and has a vacancy for a Development Worker to support organisations who deliver services to children in the borough.

The role involves developing voluntary & community organisations understanding and capacity on safeguarding, integrated working and the strategies that impact on the work they do. You will assist them in developing policies & procedures to ensure that their activities are conducted safely.

You will be required to work flexibly which could include evening and weekend working – including Sundays.

You will be expected to have an understanding of Safeguarding and the requirements of the national strategy drivers affecting work with Children & Young People, especially ‘Every Child Matters’.

You should be educated to a minimum of Level 2 (GCSE Grade C) qualifications in English and Maths.

More importantly, we are looking for someone who is a good communicator, builds effective relationships, can influence others, understands the importance of safeguarding policies & procedures and understands the importance of integrated working and partnership with other staff from all sectors.

You should be passionate about the safety of children and young people and be able to convey that to Trustees, Managers, Staff and Volunteers in the Voluntary & Community sector. You will therefore need a clear understanding of this sector and the issues they face.

This post is a fixed term contract for 12 months from date of commencement of employment.

The post is intended to be part time 30 hours per week but working pattern(s) is flexible for the right candidate(s)

The salary is up to a maximum of £28,000 pro rata (per annum)

The role is subject to an enhanced CRB Check.
