How the VCS can change attitudes to transport

Objectives

  • Present external partners with the benefits of working more closely and commissioning with/to the voluntary and community sector (VCS).  This includes sustainable transport, showcasing efficiencies, quality of life in communities, ageing population agenda, carbon reduction and environmental issues and social inclusion.
  • Highlight and share good practice to/with partners in order to realise opportunities for their operations, service delivery, and campaigning roles.
  • Identify areas where VCS organisations can collectively help meet transport needs and deliver in relation to the Big Society agenda and within the emerging Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEP’s).
  • To propose and discuss innovative solutions and new models of working between commissioner and provider.

Audience
This event is aimed at staff or board members of VCS organisations with a role or interest in transport issues.  Attendance from sub-regional VCS networks will also be important as well as relevant policy makers. Representatives from local authorities and LEP’s including elected members and officers, in addition to other statutory and private sector partners.

Proposed outcomes
An evidence based document focused on the role of the voluntary and community sector in transport will be launched. This document will showcase what and where the sector can deliver in transport and the role that RAWM, WM VCS Transport Policy Group and others can play in making this happen.
