Building capacity by effective involvement of children and young people - free participation training

National Children's Bureau's (NCB) Speak In is working with Participation Works to deliver a series of free training events across England to build the capacity of smaller BAME (black, asian and minority ethnic) and faith-based organisations and assist them to engage children effectively in the work of their organisations.

The aim of the training course is to introduce participants to a selection of training methods and tools to build skills and knowledge in increasing children and young people's effective participation in decision making.

By the end of the course delegates will:

1) have a basic understanding of the legal and policy context for children and young people's participation in decision-making;

2) recognise how personal values and attitudes affect relationships with Children and young people;

3) be aware of the many different approaches of hearing children and young people and supporting them to be heard and taken seriously;

4) have an action plan for making changes with achievable goals and targets.
