There were four topic discussions, and delegates participated in two each:

  • Commissioning for Patients and Increasing Democratic Legitimacy in Health
  • Putting Patients and the Public First
  • Improving Healthcare Outcomes
  • Regulating Healthcare Providers

The key points from the discussions are being collated and will feed into a Regional Voices submission.

Reports from the Regional Voices events will be uploaded in the near future.

If you were unable to attend the event on 9th September, or have additional comments you wish to submit, you can still take part by feeding in directly through the Department of Health website.

Closing date for the consultation is Monday 11th October.

An event for the voluntary and community sector, and patients, service user and carers groups.

A consultation event organised by Regional Voices, a Strategic Partner to the Department of Health, to discuss the implications and impact of the changes proposed in the Health White Paper.

The White Paper on Health has the potential to create one of the biggest changes to the structure and function of the NHS since its creation in 1948. Although the ‘what’ in the White Paper has largely been decided, the ‘how’ is very much still being shaped; the five consultations deal with different themes:

  • Better health Outcomes
  • Transferring responsibility for health to local councils
  • Commissioning for patients
  • Regulating healthcare providers
  • Expanding local LINks into a national Health Watch scheme

The formal consultation is open until Monday 11th October.

Regional Voices and NAVCA have both produced summaries of the consultations as the formal DH consultation documents are lengthy and time consuming to read.

RAWM and its network Regional Voices are holding a consultation event for the West Midlands on Thursday 9th September. The event is fully booked, but a report will be posted on the website as soon as possible afterwards.
