CDX event: West Midlands

Is the “Big Society” a fig leaf for public sector cuts, or an opportunity for ‘bottom-up’ community development and collective action?

In the morning you will hear about the current policy landscape, what a Big Society means for community development and what we can, and are, doing about it from the CDX Team.

The afternoon will include a presentation from Tamworth Borough Council, and you will get to explore Big Society in the West Midlands with RAWM, Every Voice Counts and the Empowerment Partnership.

Who should attend:

  • Community development practitioners
  • Community activists, organisers and volunteers
  • Policy-makers
  • Elected members
  • Anyone working with the voluntary and community sector
  • Public sector workers & managers working in a range of settings including health, housing, regeneration, environment, with young people and BME groups
