BIG would like to have a conversation with you about their plans for building capabilities within voluntary and community sector organisations.

As you may be aware, before Christmas BIG launched a nationwide discussion asking voluntary sector and social enterprise managers working in both frontline and infrastructure support and development organisations to contribute to their thinking on ‘building capabilities within voluntary organisations’.

The Big Lottery Fund has invested more than £200 million on capacity building for VCS organisations and social enterprises over the last ten years; their nationwide discussion is intended to stimulate debate and thinking to shape, influence and inform their future thinking and investment.

To begin to gather ideas and responses, BIG have published a discussion document that sets out their key principles. They have also posted an online survey and the document and survey can be found online: www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/buildingcapabilities .

The discussion process closes on 15th March 2012, after which BIG will publish a revised paper which responds to and incorporates the comments they have received.

To compliment this, BIG would like to invite you to a discussion event on Friday 24th February 2012, 10am to 2pm at a Central Birmingham venue to explain the principles behind their plans, but more importantly, to hear your views about their approach.
