The aim of this workshop is to familiarise participants with the resource Are they Safe?, a toolkit full of easy to use materials for community and voluntary groups and organisations. The resource includes a step-by-step guide, a DVD and other information to help managers, staff and volunteers who provide activities to children and young people feel confident about what they need to do to safeguarding children effectively.

Who should apply?
Those who have a role in supporting community groups and voluntary organisations, with some knowledge and experience of training or facilitating learning or group work and some knowledge of safeguarding issues. Delegates will need to make a commitment to delivering support via the use of the pack in their local areas.

What is Safe Network ?
Safe Network is a partnership initiative between Children England and the NSPCC. It offers FREE resources to small voluntary and community organisations working with children, young people and their families. This includes resources such as the well received Are they Safe? pack and the dvd Keeping our children safe; raising awareness in black and minority ethnic communities, along with additional downloadable materials and a telephone helpline. All of these can be accessed via the Safe Network website.
