The West Midlands Region
The West Midlands as a region is located at the heart of England. Although it is known for the conurbation areas of Birmingham, Solihull, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Wolverhampton and Walsall, over half the region’s land mass is rural.
The region has:
- 38 local and unitary authorities
- Over 18,300 voluntary and community sector organisations
- As with other regions, regional infrastructure bodies.
The West Midlands Voluntary and Community Sector has:
- Volunteers worth a minimum of £225m
- Total assets of £4.08bn
- GDP worth a minimum of £335m
- An Unpaid workforce of 435,000
- Total expenditure £1.15bn
- A Total income of £1.2bn
- A Paid workforce of 44,000
The West Midlands Regional Concordat
The West Midlands Regional Concordat is an agreement between the main regional organisations. It provides a framework for partnership working between the organisations and for the integration of the regional strategies. There are 16 concordat partners – RAWM is one of them.
